GMSLICKBUILDZ LLC was built from a vision that no one else was willing to bring to life.
It all started when I was searching for a company that could customize the lighting on my own vehicle. Everywhere I looked, I kept hearing the same thing: “Your car isn’t common, we don’t see a market for customizing a Chevy Impala.” Instead of giving up on the idea, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I began researching how to do the work myself, learning everything I could about lighting retrofits, tools, and techniques.
What started as a personal project quickly caught attention. After completing my build, people started asking where I had my lights done. When I told them I did them myself, the requests began coming in, especially from other Impala owners who wanted the same type of customization.
Before turning what I created for myself into a business, I prayed and asked God for guidance and blessings on the path ahead. With faith and determination, I continued researching the best tools and products while building relationships with experienced builders in the lighting community.
Along the way, I received valuable insight and support from several respected builders who helped shape my journey. Special thanks to Jack at Simple Importz, Steve at Next Level Neo, and the team at Ghozt Lighting for their guidance and friendship. There were also many talented builders who shared knowledge and encouragement along the way, even though some have since retired from the lighting community.
From that journey, the name GMSLICKBUILDZ was created.
GM stands for “Gratitude Made Slick Buildz.” Gratitude is at the heart of everything we do, and we are thankful for every customer who trusts us with their vision.
I will never forget my first customers who believed in me. A special shout out to Chris Fox, my very first client with a 9th Gen Impala, and David Cross, who helped put GMSLICKBUILDZ on the map with the 10th Gen Impala community. From there, the rest is history.
One thing that shaped how we operate today is the experience I had in the beginning, being turned away because my vehicle wasn’t considered “popular enough.” Because of that, GMSLICKBUILDZ welcomes projects from all makes and models. Whether your vehicle is common or unique, we believe every vision deserves the opportunity to be brought to life.
